Confluence, May 15 and 16, 2027

Join us for Confluence, an evening of original dance, visual art, and live music created through collaboration between the choreographers and dancers of Chadash Contemporary Dance Movement and the talented young dancers of our sister pre-professional program, Colorado Dance Initiative.

At the heart of Confluence is the idea that something new can emerge when different artistic voices meet. Each Chadash choreographer will be paired with a visual artist to explore a shared concept, creating an original dance work alongside an original piece of visual art. While each artist will bring their own medium, perspective, and creative process to the collaboration, the works will exist in conversation with one another, offering two different ways of seeing, feeling, and experiencing the same idea.

The evening will move beyond a traditional dance concert, incorporating visual art and moments of live music to create an immersive artistic experience. Audiences will have the opportunity to encounter the artwork not only through its connection to the dance works, but also within a gallery-style exhibition throughout the event. In addition to the pieces created specifically for Confluence, the exhibition will feature additional work from the participating visual artists, all of which will be available for purchase.

The performances will feature the professional dancers of Chadash alongside dancers from Colorado Dance Initiative, our sister pre-professional program for young artists pursuing serious study and careers in dance. Together, these dancers represent different stages of an artistic journey, professional artists working alongside the next generation as they grow in curiosity, confidence, passion, and commitment.

Confluence is ultimately a celebration of what can happen when we make room for one another's voices. Dance meets visual art. Professional artists meet emerging artists. Movement meets image and sound. Different perspectives meet around a shared idea, and something entirely new can emerge from the meeting.

At Chadash, we believe art has the capacity to help us make sense of the world—to tell the truth about what is difficult and broken while still making room for hope. We seek to create work that brings goodness, truth, and beauty into the world through dance.

Confluence carries that same spirit: to stand in the ashes of the barn burned down and point to the moon—one foot in suffering, one foot in hope.

Join us for one of two performances and experience an evening where artists meet, disciplines intersect, and something new emerges from the meeting place.
