Trainee Program

Chadash Contemporary Dance Movement is thrilled to introduce our new Trainee program, beginning in the 2025-26 season!

If you believe dance can be a vehicle for transformation—for yourself, your audience, and your community—you may be exactly who we’re looking for. We’re calling in dancers who want to grow not just as artists, but as visual storytellers, architects of hope, and agents of change. Whether you go on to join the company or take what you learn out into the world, this program will prepare you to do meaningful, courageous work—through dance.

We are seeking passionate, open-minded dancers ages 18–24 who are hungry to grow and ready to immerse themselves in the rigor of a professional contemporary dance environment. Ideal candidates are technically strong, artistically curious, and deeply collaborative. You don’t need to be “finished”—you need to be willing. We value dancers who are eager to explore nuance, take risks, and invest fully in process as well as performance.

We’re especially looking for dancers with a solid technical foundation who are ready for the next step: training, rehearsing, and performing alongside Chadash Contemporary Dance Movement, and resonating with the heart of our work. Trainees should feel drawn to our mission: "to stand in the ashes of the barn burned down, and point to the moon, one foot in suffering, one foot in hope."

What makes our trainee program unique?

Chadash is a group of visual storytellers, passionate about its mission, “to stand in the ashes of the barn burned down, and point to the moon, one foot in suffering, one foot in hope.” Everything we do reflects this vision: our trainee program will not only offer excellent continuing dance training, but will train dancers to see the world through this lens. Dancers will stretch beyond convention to learn that their voices as dance artists of the next generation matter.

Details

  • Training

    Training geared towards technique, movement quality, visual storytelling, conceptual concert work and becoming artists who see themselves as agents of change.

    Dancers will receive training and rehearsal over four days each week for the 2025-26 season (September-May).

    Dancers will be expected to attend daily ballet and contemporary class as well as daily rehearsals.

    Dancers will also have the opportunity to dance with Company Dancers in a combined Company Class with Chadash Contemporary Dance Movement two days a week.

    Potential twice monthly class with Chadash Contemporary Dance Movement Colorado Dance Initiative 

  • Performance Opportunities

    Trainees will have the opportunity to perform in three concerts a year with Chadash

    Contemporary Dance Movement and one concert of their own.

    Handel’s Messiah (with Chadash)- December 2025

    Trainee Concert- April 2026

    Spring Concert (with Chadash)

    August Concert (with Chadash)

  • Professional Opportunities

    At the end of the season, the Director of Chadash Contemporary Dance Movement will give select trainees the opportunity to dance in Chadash’s August concert along with our local and out of state company dancers.

Audition

 Video Submissions

Your submission should highlight your technical skills, artistry, and versatility as a dancer. Detailed guidelines for video submissions are provided as follows:

  • Resume

  • Headshot

  • 2-3 Recent dance photos

  • Dance Reel (10 Minute Limit) including:

    • Improv (1 min minimum)

    • 2-3 min Contemporary Solo Choreography
