Embodied Narratives: A Visual Storytelling Experience, August 13-15, 2027

Embodied Narratives is one of the most powerful and immersive experiences of the Chadash season. Each year, we create an original story that invites audiences to look honestly at the world as it is, to wrestle with its beauty and brokenness, its questions and contradictions, its suffering and its hope.

Told primarily through dance, each narrative unfolds through the unparalleled dancers of Chadash Contemporary Dance Movement, with choreography by Artistic Director Kelly Archer and Associate Director and Resident Choreographer Stephanie McGill. But dance is only one part of the storytelling. Spoken word, written and directed by Artist in Residence Jason Poullard, becomes another voice within the story, alongside film, photography, visual art, music, and other multimedia elements.

Rather than presenting a collection of unrelated pieces, Embodied Narratives invites audiences into a single unfolding experience. Movement becomes language. Images become memory. Words become questions. Music creates atmosphere and emotion. Each element is woven together to tell a story that asks us to pause and consider the world around us, and our place within it.

At its heart, Embodied Narratives is about the human experience. It explores the things we carry, the ways we connect and disconnect, the places where we encounter suffering, and the moments when hope finds us anyway. The stories are not meant to offer easy answers or tidy resolutions. Instead, they create space to sit with difficult questions while still looking toward what might be possible.

Our concerts are more than just shows. They are opportunities to step outside the noise and hurry of everyday life and enter a space where we can reflect, feel, question, grieve, wonder, and hope. We believe art can help us see something we may have overlooked, feel something we may have forgotten, or imagine something we have not yet considered.

And ultimately, we believe hope is worth pursuing.

Come experience a story told through movement, words, image, and sound. Come encounter the world as it is, and imagine what it could be.

Come experience hope in motion this August.
